She plays a fun, brash orthopedic surgeon in a lesbian relationship on the hit show Grey's Anatomy, but when Sara Ramirez married fiance Ryan Debolt for real on July 4th, there was nothing overly complicated about it.

The good-looking pair tied the knot in an 'intimate' ceremony attended only by 'close family and friends,' a representative for the 36-year-old actress told People.

The Tony-winning actress got engaged to Debolt, a Los Angeles-based business analyst, during a vacation in Paris last summer. They were married in New York.

Art imitates life: Sara plays Dr. Torres, who marries fellow doctor, Arizona

Sara, who was born in Mexico, joined the cast of Grey's Anatomy in its second season. Her character Callie Torres, a beautiful Latina heavy-set doctor, wasn't meant to last.

But the fan response over her portrayal of the doctor convinced Grey's producers to bring her back.

She is now one of the key cast members and plays the lesbian partner of pediatrician Arizona, played by actress Jessica Capshaw.

On the season 8 finale of Grey's, Ramirez' character was left dangling as Arizona suffered a terrible plane crash and was trapped in the wilderness.
