Justin Chambers, known for his role as Dr. Alex Karev on Grey's Anatomy, left the show after 16 seasons in 2020. Chambers stated that he wanted to diversify his acting roles and spend more time with his wife and five children. He thanked the cast, crew, and fans for the "extraordinary ride." Chambers has since appeared in the biographical drama miniseries The Offer, portraying Marlon Brando. Other stars who have left Grey's Anatomy include Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, and Katherine Heigl.
