Executive producer and Chief Content Officer for The Walking Dead universe, Scott M. Gimple, has given fans a taste of what to expect in the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Gimple hinted at the intense and beautiful nature of the upcoming season, comparing it to an indie French horror movie. Season 2, titled "The Book of Carol," will see Melissa McBride reprising her role as Carol Peletier, reuniting with Norman Reedus' character, Daryl Dixon. McBride made a cameo appearance in the Season 1 finale. Showrunner David Zabel expressed his desire to include McBride in the show since the beginning, and the dynamic between Daryl and Carol has always been a topic of conversation amongst the show's creators. The first season ended with Daryl stuck in France while trying to find Rick Grimes and Michonne. Season 2 will also introduce new cast members, including Manish Dayal as a survivor named Ash. A release date for Season 2 has yet to be announced.
