The 2019 Grammy Awards paid tribute to musicians who died in the past year, including Avicii, Mac Miller, and Aretha Franklin. Franklin, known as the Queen of Soul, died of pancreatic cancer in August. Avicii died by suicide in April at the age of 28. Miller died from an accidental drug overdose in September at the age of 26. Rapper XXXTentacion, who was shot dead in June, was not included in the tribute. Other artists honored in the In Memoriam segment included Roy Clark, Ed King, Vinnie Paul Abbott, Conway Savage, and Jimmy Wopo.
