Controversial rapper XXXTentacion, who was shot dead in June 2018, may have confessed to assaulting his girlfriend in a 2016 recording, according to recent reports. The recording, which was obtained by Pitchfork, allegedly features XXXTentacion discussing an incident where he attacked his then-girlfriend, Geneva Ayala.
In the disturbing 27-minute audio, the rapper reportedly describes the events that transpired during the assault, stating that he had beaten Ayala, strangled her, and threatened to kill her numerous times.
This revelation is alarming due to the numerous allegations of domestic abuse that had previously been made against XXXTentacion. In 2016, he was arrested on charges of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering. His ex-girlfriend, Ayala, was the victim in all these incidents.
The rapper's controversial past has often overshadowed his musical success, with many questioning the ethics of promoting an artist with such a violent background. However, XXXTentacion's fans have ardently defended him, claiming that his troubled childhood and mental health struggles contributed to his violent behavior.
